RASNZ is recycling old bikes and sending them off to refugee families. Almost one hundred bikes have been fixed up and given to refugees in Auckland since the project began in 2010.

Send Us Your Old Bike
Refugees meet their new bikes at the Refugee Resettlement Centre in Mangere.
Not using your bike? Don’t let it rust in your garage—donate it to a refugee! Our volunteer team will give the bike a makeover and see that it gets to a refugee family that will use it. Having a bike can make a big difference to a refugee family, so call us now to send your old bike to a new loving home.

At the Mangere Refugee Centre Kitch Cuthbert from Auckland Transport has organised cycle lessons for some of our refugees. Dave Powell (above left) gives a cycle lesson focusing on bike safety - including how to use hand signals and the importance of always wearing a helmet.
The project was recently on the news for a second time this year. It was spotlighted by Hayden Jones in Good Sorts on TV One news, where Tim (right) from T. White’s Bikes became the “good sort” for volunteering his time to fix up untold bicycles for us to give to refugees.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Reef Shipping for their extremely kind donation of a container. The project was near to stalling because we had nowhere to safely store the bicycles, but now thanks to Reef the bikes are now all snug and secure and the project is roaring ahead.

Thank you to L.W.Bonney & Sons Ltd for transporting the container.

And a big thanks goes out to all those involved in the project and all the wonderful people who have donated bicycles.
