R.A.S Community Activities
Refugees and people with refugee-like backgrounds may arrive in New Zealand with little English and limited knowledge about New Zealand. Resettlement can be a challenging and stressful experience, even more so when information is rarely available in one's own language.
The R.A.S Community Team would like to;
- Provide refugee communities with a culturally-appropriate safe place to talk about their feelings and needs in a group setting
- Empower refugee communities through knowledge and capacity building activities
- Advocate and advise on culturally appropriate mental health treatment and support
- Assist refugees in overcoming resettlement stress and trauma
What we do;
- Facilitate community-based information sessions about New Zealand society
- Identify facilities for capacity-building projects and training opportunities
- Facilitate Group Psycho-Education Programme
- Refer to appropriate organisations for individual or group assistance as required
R.A.S Community Development Projects
- Introductory Health Programme
- Celebrating Achievement
- Road Code and Learner Licence Sessions
